The Gold Country Kiwanis through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, planting trees, and performing countless other projects to help children and our community.

Serves . . .

Western Nevada County through community service projects in support of our youth, senior citizens, and the community at large.

Fund Raising . . .

Our major fund raising project s are a food booth at the Nevada County Fair as well as the Draft Horse Classic. In addition, there's the Kiwanis Beach Party, presented for the at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City.

One of our Beach Parties was held on Friday, November 19th, 2010 at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City. The Beach Partty had a catered Buffet Dinner, Auction and Dance. Music by Rock & Roll band Sgt Funky.  To see some pictures of our BeachParty, click on Beach Party 2010.

In May of 2012 Kiwanis held an auction of Masks creted by local artists. To see some of these Masks, click on The Mask Parade.

In prior years Kiwanis held an auction of Dolls creted by local artists. To see some of these Dolls, click on Art Dolls.

Service Projects . . .

In addition to our support of three Key Clubs, one at each of our local high schools, we also stage a Kiwanis Back-to-School project where about 60 elementary school students are assisted with their back to school needs. This project is co-sponsored by K-Mart.

We also support a variety of other community service projects through the activities of our Team One committee, including a very successful pediatric trauma and child car seat replacement program.

Our Goals . . .

Give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life

Encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships

Promote the adoption and application of higher social, business and professional standards

Develop by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, serviceable citizenship

Provide, through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities

Cooperate in creating and maintaining the sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness justice, patriotism and goodwill.
